Allen brought his partially completed Long-EZ airframe to us because he wanted help to get the most of his Long-EZ project.
The aircraft first flew in late 2015.
It is a highly modified airframe with low drag, lightweight Magnum engine Cowls and a pumped up Lycoming 360 turning a custom made 3 blade propeller from Craig Catto.. .
The engine Cooling baffles were specially designed and fabricated for optimum performance
The aircraft has a custom made canopy bubble installed in a special frame.
As a safety enhancement, the aircraft is fitted with a custom fabricated rollover structure
Allen chose and installed modern Grand Rapids Technology instrumentation.
While the initial flight testing is still underway as of January of 2016, it is easy to see that this aircraft is a real performer and is demonstrating the ability to easily cruise at over 200 kts true airspeed.
OWNER: ROBERT GARY MYERS, U.S. ARMY RETIRED
Robert is a retired army officer and security expert who wanted to take on a project that would be challenging and engaging. After years of hard work and concentration, he is rewarded with an awe-inspiring machine that is set apart from all other aircraft in its stout and powerful air-frame and its agile and responsive controls. When this bird taxis in, heads are turned.
Heated leather seats cradle the pilot for a view out the front rivaled by none, envied by all. Named for a stocky eagle from Asia that preys on wolves, the Berkut is considered by many to be at the apex of custom aircraft. This example is a crowning achievement.
Dave Devere performed extensive flight testing to slowly expand the aircraft's envelope to eventually expose capabilities of speed and aerobatics and efficiency that will impress any pilot.

Dave acquired a suitable airframe and brought it to Freeflight Composites for completion. Based on the long-EZ, the aircraft was modified to fit his specifications, including safety, performance, and comfort upgrades.
This super long-EZ named "The Krossfire" features a forward-hinged canopy for added safety and easier cockpit access, a larger engine (power speaks for itself), a strengthened spar, and beefier landing gear.
The avionics suite includes an IFR EFIS, certified GPS, backup EFIS, and a digital autopilot. The plane also sports front and rear seat heaters, and stereo music inputs. Dave has also equipped it with LED front and rear cockpit lighting and an LED landing light system.
Dave routinely flies this aircraft non-stop from Falcon, Colorado to Pensacola, Florida to visit his grand-kids.

Built at Freeflight Composites by Burrall Sanders and designated CozyIIIx, "STINGER" is equipped with a Lycoming O-360 that has been upgraded with fuel injection and high compression pistons. It has an instrument panel fitted with a Dynon PFD and EMS, an Auto Pilot and Garmin radios. This aircraft has flown to The Bahamas, Canada, Mexico, and all over the Continental US.
It will cruise at 170 KTS TAS on less than 8 GPH. It has demonstrated a top speed of 193 KTS TAS.
